Police respond to thousands of false alarms per year. In order to reduce the amount of false alarms a law was established that utilizes a third party vendor, named Cry Wolf. Cry Wolf monitors alarms and assess fines to those who do not register their alarms or have on-going false alarms.

All residents and businesses that have a security alarm are required to register their alarm with Cry Wolf. Title 24 of the Delaware Code, Chapter 12, Subchapter II. Registration is free, failure to register may result in a fine.
