Trooper Youth Program

 

What is the Trooper Youth Program and what do they do?

The Trooper Youth Program consists of young men and women in 9th grade and above, ages 14-18, who are interested in Law Enforcement. Students participate in Community Service events like fingerprinting young children, maintaining the missing children’s area at the Delaware State Fair, the Special Olympics 5K run, the Polar Bear Plunge, and attending many other community-related events throughout the State. We teach the students a variety of police procedures, including fingerprinting, evidence collection, radar operation, criminal investigations, and patrol procedures. We mentor students for a career in Law Enforcement and provide them with training and opportunities for their future, such as Seasonal Police work. We strive to instill leadership, responsibility, commitment, and professionalism.

Our qualification requirements are: mature, clean-cut, clean-shaven students with a 2.0 GPA or above and no criminal arrest history. This is not a discipline program.
