Date Posted: Wednesday, April 1st, 2020

Dover – The Delaware State Police have arrested a Dover woman, in connection with stabbing her boyfriend during a domestic dispute.

The initial incident was reported at approximately 1:42 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2020 when a 35 year old Dover man reported walking along S. State St. in the area of Lebanon Rd., after leaving Royal Farms when he was approached by an unknown male subject who stabbed him in the upper torso with an unknown object. The victim was treated at Bayhealth Kent Campus for a single stab wound to his upper torso.

Through follow up investigative measures, Troopers were able to determine the victim was involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend, 41 year old Safata Johnson of Dover, on the night of the incident. During the dispute, the verbal argument escalated and Johnson retrieved a paring knife and stabbed the victim in the upper torso.

Johnson turned herself into Troop 3 and was arraigned before Justice of the Peace Court. She was charged with Assault First Degree (felony), Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony and was released on her own recognizance with a No Contact Order issued with the victim.
