Townsend, Delaware – The Delaware State Police are identifying Carol R. Morris, 69 of Townsend, who has died from injuries sustained in a crash that occurred at approximately 8:45 a.m., on April 16, 2019 on U.S. 13 northbound at Blackbird Landing Road, Townsend, Delaware. She was admitted to the Christiana Hospital on April 16, 2019 before succumbing to her injuries on April, 23, 2019.
The initial investigation has determined that a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan, being driven by a 37 year old Augusta, GA man, was traveling northbound on U.S. 13 in the right lane, approaching the intersection with Blackbird Landing Rd. The driver failed to stop at the red light and proceeded through the intersection, striking the left side of a 2013 Chevy Malibu, operated by a 69 year old Townsend woman that was attempting to turn left on to southbound U.S. 13., from Blackbird Landing Road. After the initial collision the Chevy was redirected in a northeasterly direction coming to rest at the shallow edge of a retention pond, located at the northeast corner of the intersection.
