*UPDATE* Troopers Investigating Fatal Hit and Run Crash Involving Pedestrian-Bear

Bear– The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian in which the striking vehicle fled the scene.

The incident occurred on March 10, 2019 at approximately 8:29 p.m., when an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on Pulaski Highway (US 40).  A pedestrian was walking eastbound on US 40 in the area of the off-ramp from northbound DE Rt. 1.  The victim was subsequently struck by the vehicle, which did not remain at the scene.  The victim remained in the right lane of US 40 when he was struck by a second vehicle, a 2015 Nissan Altima.  The victim was also struck by other subsequent vehicles that did not remain on the scene.

The victim, 34-year-old Ramanpreet Suri of Wilmington, DE was not wearing reflective clothing or carrying an illumination device.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Altima, a 27-year-old male from Wilmington, DE was properly restrained and not injured.

Eastbound US 40 in the area of Buckley Boulevard was closed for approximately 2 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

At this time there is no suspect vehicle information. The Delaware State Police Reconstruction Unit is asking anyone that has information in reference to this crash or information regarding the striking vehicles that left the scene to please contact Troop 2, Cpl/3 Aube at (302)-365-8483.  Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or via the internet at http://delaware.crimestoppersweb.com
