**Update #2** Magnolia Man Arrested in Connection With Shooting-Capitol Park, Dover

Dover – The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Major Crimes Unit is continuing its investigation into a shooting that occurred in the Capitol Park Development in early October in which one suspect has been identified and arrested.

The incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. Wednesday,  October 11, 2017 in the area of the 100 block of Presidents Drive where a 29-year-old male from Dover was shot by an unknown suspect(s) while standing next to a parked vehicle.  The victim, who was shot multiple times, was transported from the scene by EMS to an area hospital where he was admitted in serious condition.

Through investigative measures, a suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Khalil-Mahlik T. Hanzer of Magnolia.  On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, Hanzer was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for unrelated charges. A search warrant was executed at the residence where Hanzer was staying and a handgun was recovered.

On Wednesday, December 20, 2017 Hanzer was charged with Attempted Murder First Degree, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony. Hanzer was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2  and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $1,080,000.00 cash bond.

This case continues to remain under investigation by the Major Crimes Unit..
