Troopers Investigate Shoe Store Robbery

New Castle, DE- Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a New Castle area shoe store that occurred last night.

The initial investigation has determined that the incident happened at approximately 7:44 p.m. last night, Monday, October 10, 2016, as a male suspect entered the Payless shoe store located at 2088 New Castle Avenue, New Castle. The suspect then confronted a female employee of the business and displayed an unknown make and model handgun. He then demanded money from he store’s cash register. The employee complied with the suspect’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect. He then exited the store and fled in an unknown direction. There were no injuries.

The suspect was described as a black male. He was 5’02”-5’05” tall, weighed 190-250 lbs., and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, a black t-shirt, and black shoes. There is no further physical or clothing description available. No video surveillance photos are available to be released at this time.
