New Castle – The Delaware State Police are investigating a strong arm robbery that took place in the parking lot of a New Castle area motel Monday evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2019 in the parking lot of the Super Lodge, located at 1213 West Ave., in New Castle. The 27 year old female victim agreed to give a ride to a male acquaintance from an area gas station to the Super Lodge, and upon arriving at the motel the suspect demanded the victim’s property. The victim attempted to flee, however the suspect was able to physically restrain her and then struck her in the head with a closed fist. He then proceeded to remove property from the victim’s pockets, before fleeing.

The suspect, who was only known to the victim by nickname, was described as a black male, 25 years of age, wearing a dark jacket and light colored jeans.
