WANTED Steven L. McCormick Jr.

The Delaware State Police are attempting to locate Steven L. McCormick Jr., 22 of Salisbury, Maryland who is wanted on domestic related assault charges and reckless endangering of responding troopers.

On Thursday, February 28, 2019, a physical domestic incident occurred on Boyd Drive, Magnolia between Steven L. McCormick Jr. and his girlfriend. During the incident the suspect punched her multiple times and prevented her from contacting 9-1-1 by damaging her phone. McCormick then fled the scene in a stolen vehicle; a 2010 gray Ford Fusion.

On the same date the stolen vehicle was seen at Walgreens located at 9202 Commercial Drive, Bridgeville, Delaware.  As the first trooper arrived on scene and attempted to exit the patrol vehicle, the suspect drove at the trooper and slammed into the passenger side compartment of the patrol vehicle. The trooper exited the patrol vehicle and began giving commands and the driver continued to ram the rear of the stolen vehicle into the side of the patrol vehicle in an attempt to prevent capture. The trooper sustained minor injuries.

Another trooper arrived on scene and exited his patrol vehicle to assist when the suspect then recklessly drove the stolen vehicle in the direction of the trooper causing him to jump out of the way to avoid being struck. McCormick fled the scene and was observed traveling on Sussex Highway in the area of Bridgeville Road. A computer check revealed his Maryland driver’s license was suspended.

Warrants are on file charging Steven L. McCormick Jr. with the following:
