Wilmington – The Delaware State Police have arrested David Brower, 33 of Hockessin for his 5th DUI after he was involved in a wrong way crash on Limestone Rd. late Wednesday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:09 p.m. on Limestone Rd. in the area of Milltown Rd., Wilmington. Brower, who was operating a 2012 Subaru Impreza was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Limestone Rd. when he struck a 2010 Acura TSX operated by a 21 year old Bear man. Responding Troopers were able to take Brower in to custody as he attempted to flee the scene of the crash. Upon making contact with Brower, Troopers could detect a strong odor of alcohol at which time they initiated a DUI investigation. The investigation determined that Brower was under the influence of alcohol and a computer check further revealed that he had 4 prior DUI convictions.

Brower was charged with a total of 13 traffic violations to include 5th Offense DUI, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Failure to Report an Accident, Failure to Report a DUI  Related Accident, Driving Suspended, Careless Driving, Driving the Wrong Way, No Left Turn, Fail to Remain in Single Lane, Driving Across a Median (2 counts), No Proof of Insurance, No Proof of Registration.

Brower was admitted to the Christiana Hospital for medical evaluation. Upon discharge from the hospital Brower was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2 and subsequently committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $7,109.00 secured bail.

The operator of the Acura was not injured as a result of the crash.
