State Police Investigating Two-Vehicle Fatal Crash in Long Neck

The Delaware State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred last week on Long Neck Road.

On August 18, 2026, at approximately 11:50 a.m., a Chrysler Pacifica was traveling northbound on Long Neck Road near Mallard Road. At the same time, a Ford Explorer was traveling on westbound on Mallard Road, stopped at the stop sign. The investigation revealed that the Explorer failed to remain stopped and turned left into the path of the Pacifica. As a result, the front of the Pacifica struck the driver’s side of the Explorer.

The driver of the Explorer, 86-year-old William Wonchoba, from Millsboro, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital, and on August 23, 2026, he died from his injuries.

The driver of the Pacifica, a 69-year-old man from Millsboro, was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this crash. Investigators are asking anyone with video footage or information relevant to the crash to contact Master Corporal J. Smith at (302) 703-3267.
