Delaware State Police have arrested 30-year-old Charles Gehman of Lynchburg, Virginia for felony assault that occurred this morning in Rehoboth Beach.
On March 8, 2025, at approximately 9:00 a.m., troopers responded to the area of Popeye’s, located at 19040 Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach, for a report of noise from a protest. While troopers were speaking to several people, they were notified of an assault that occurred in the parking lot. The investigation revealed that a 65-year-old male victim was assaulted by the suspect, later identified as Charles Gehman, following an argument about traffic and parking in the parking lot. The victim suffered minor injuries. Following the assault, Gehman, left in a gray Toyota Corolla with Virginia registration. Troopers located the Corolla and Gehman a short time later, and he was taken into custody without incident.
Gehman was taken to Troop 7, where he was charged with the crime listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3, and released on a $4,000 unsecured bond.
