*Update – Suspect Arrested* State Police Detectives Investigating Two Shootings in Dover

Delaware State Police Detectives have arrested a 17-year-old male from Dover, Delaware in connection with a shooting that occurred in Dover last month.

On January 19, 2025, at approximately 1:58 p.m., troopers responded to the 200 block of Gunning Bedford Drive in the Rodney Village community for a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, they learned that on January 18th at approximately 8:30 p.m., unknown suspects fired an unknown number of shots that hit the residence. The two adults in the residence were not hurt.

Delaware State Police Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Detectives, with the assistance of Dover Police Department and Probation and Parole, identified the 17-year-old male as one of the suspects involved in the shooting on January 18th.

On February 21, 2025, the 17-year-old male was charged with the crimes listed below, and arraigned by Kent County Family Court, and committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on a $50,000 secured bond.

  • Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
  • Possession of Ammunition by a Person Under the Age of 18 (Felony)
  • Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Under the Age of 18 (Felony)
  • Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (Felony) – 2 counts
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
  • Criminal Mischief $1000 but less than $5000

Delaware State Police Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Unit continues its investigation and urges anyone who has information about these incidents to contact Detective S. O’Leary at (302) 698-8527.
