The Delaware State Police are investigating an armed carjacking that occurred early this morning at a Wawa in New Castle.
On July 3, 2024, at approximately 2:18 a.m., troopers responded to a report of an armed carjacking that occurred at the Wawa located at 117 South Dupont Highway in New Castle. Upon arriving, troopers learned that an unknown black male suspect approached the 25-year-old victim in the parking lot and demanded the victim’s car keys while lifting his shirt to show a firearm. The victim complied and the suspect fled towards State Route 273 in the stolen Honda Accord.
The suspect is described as an unknown black male. Surveillance video and images are not yet available.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Robbery Unit continues to investigate this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this case to contact Detective J. Dempsey by calling (302) 365-8472. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
