*UPDATE- VICTIM IDENTIFIED* Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash- Felton

Felton, DE- Delaware State Police have identified the two victims who died during a Sunday night fatal motor-vehicle crash on Irish Hill Road as Cheryl Hagens-Brandl, 36, of Magnolia and Christopher A. Tunis, 18, of Milford.  

On February 6, 2022, at approximately 6:02 p.m., a 2007 Hyundai Accent, operated by Cheryl Hagens-Brandl, was traveling eastbound on Irish Hill Road, west of Blaine Drive. At the same time, a 2010 Toyota Corolla, operated by Christopher A. Tunis, was traveling westbound on Irish Hill Road, approaching the same area as the Hyundai. Tunis was traveling directly behind a large pick-up truck as both vehicles approached each other. Tunis entered the eastbound travel lane attempting to legally pass the truck and pulled directly into the path of the Hyundai. Both vehicles attempted to avoid the collision by exiting off the south edge of the roadway but ultimately struck head-on. After impact, both cars came to rest in a field off of Irish Hill Road.

Cheryl Hagens-Brandl was not properly restrained and was pronounced deceased at the scene. There was one passenger in the Hyundai. That was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Christopher Tunis was not properly restrained and transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. There were two passengers in the Toyota who were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash investigation remains ongoing.
