Superintendent Colonel Melissa Zebley
Rehoboth Beach– Delaware State Police would like to warn the public about a recent increase in thefts of mopeds in the Rehoboth Beach area. Delaware State Police Troop 7 began seeing a spike of moped thefts starting in the middle of March along the Coastal Highway area.
With the weather starting to get warmer and an increase of individuals visiting the beach area, troopers would like to provide the following safety tips to prevent others from becoming victims:
Unfortunately, security measures can’t guarantee your moped won’t be stolen but, by using multiple security measures, you can make it more difficult and less attractive for thieves.
If you have any information regarding the recent theft of moped cases, please contact Delaware State Police Troop 7 by calling 302-644-5020. Information may also be provided by calling Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or via the internet at http://www.delaware.crimestoppersweb.com .
If you or someone you know is a victim or witness of crime or have lost a loved one to a sudden death and are in need of assistance, the Delaware State Police Victim Services Unit/Delaware Victim Center is available to offer you support and resources 24 hours a day through a toll free hotline 1800 VICTIM-1.
