Milton- Delaware State Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred early this morning.
On December 22, 2020, at approximately 7:20 a.m., a white 2006 Ford F250, being operated by a 22-year-old male of Bethany Beach, was traveling northbound on Coastal Highway approaching the Broadkill River Bridge. The vehicle traveled off the roadway into the median and struck the guardrail on the highway’s southbound side. After colliding with the guardrail, the F250 flipped multiple times, entered into the southbound lane of travel, and collided with an orange 1994 Ford Mustang being operated by a 56-year-old male of Milford, DE. A white 2006 Chevrolet Impala being operated by a 17-year-old male of Lincoln was traveling behind the Mustang and struck the guardrail in the southbound lanes of travel due to the F250 colliding with it.
The operator of the Ford F250 was flown from the scene to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The operator of the Ford Mustang was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Northbound Coastal Highway was closed for approximately 1.5 hours, and southbound Coastal Highway was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the crash was investigated, and the roadway cleared.
