Wilmington – The Delaware State Police arrested 60-year-old MICHAEL B. HASTINGS on Monday, October 5, 2020 stemming from actions committed at a political rally on Thursday, September 24, 2020.
The original incident occurred in the area of Lancaster Pike and Barbara Road, Wilmington, De., in which Hastings pointed a handgun in the direction of a group of individuals on the other side of the street during the rally. On Monday, October 5, 2020 a New Castle County Grand Jury indicted Hastings. The defendant turned himself into Troop 6 at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2020. Detectives requested Hastings bring the firearm in question to Troop 6 and turn same in, to which Hastings complied. The firearm in question was a Glock 17 handgun.
Hastings was indicted by the grand jury on the following charges:
Hastings was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and released on his own recognizance, with court bail conditions stating he shall relinquish all firearms and/or deadly weapons and may not acquire, nor be in possession of any firearms or deadly weapons.
