State Police Investigating Shots Fired Incident in Newark

The Delaware State Police is investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred early Sunday morning in Newark.
On October 11, 2026, at approximately 4:30 a.m., troopers were patrolling near Stanton Christiana Road and Ogletown Stanton Road when they heard gunshots. Shortly afterward, troopers saw a vehicle stop at a nearby business and responded to the location. Upon arrival, troopers discovered the vehicle had been struck by gunfire. There were no reported injuries.
The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown vehicle had followed the victim’s vehicle for several miles before an unknown suspect fired multiple shots at it.
The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit responded and took over the case. Detectives continues to investigate this incident and ask anyone who witnessed the event or has information relevant to the case to contact Detective B. Timmons at (302) 365-8434.
