Search Warrant in Lewes Leads to Arrest for Gun and Drug Offenses

The Delaware State Police have arrested 46-year-old Christopher Smith of Lewes, Delaware for felony gun and drug charges following a search warrant on Pinetown Road in Lewes.

On September 10, 2026, members of the Sussex County Special Investigations Unit and the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on the 30000 block of Pinetown Road in Lewes. The search warrant was obtained following an investigation of Christopher Smith for the distribution of illegal narcotics from the residence. During the search warrant, Smith was detained without incident, and a child was in the residence at the time.

A search of the residence led to the discovery of the following items:

  • .22 caliber handgun and ammunition
  • 12-guage ammunition
  • Approximately 11.60 grams of crack cocaine
  • Digital scales
  • Pyrex container with white residue
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • $1,052.00 in suspected drug proceeds

Smith was arrested and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace and committed to the Department of Correction on a $46,000 secured bond.

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 2 Quantity (Felony)
  • Unlawful to Knowingly Operate or Attempt to Operate a Clandestine Laboratory (Felony)
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Unlawfully Dealing with a Child – Permits a Child to Remain in Place where Sex or Narcotics or Dangerous Drug Activity
