Troopers Arrest Townsend Woman After Assaulting Newark Storage Facility Employee with Hammer

The Delaware State Police arrested 35-year-old Amber Goldsborough, of Townsend, Delaware, on felony assault and weapon charges following an altercation at a Newark storage facility Tuesday morning.
On August 18, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., troopers responded to Storage Rentals of America, located at 2090 Stafford Way in Newark, for a report of a fight in progress. Responding troopers contacted two victims with visible injuries and Goldsborough. When troopers attempted to take Goldsborough into custody, she physically resisted. After a brief struggle, Goldsborough was arrested without further incident.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Goldsborough was informed by staff that she was no longer permitted to conduct business at the facility. Goldsborough then became involved in a verbal dispute with an employee. During the argument, Goldsborough threatened to harm the employee before striking the employee multiple times with a hammer. Goldsborough then placed the employee in a chokehold, restricting the employee’s ability to breathe.
A witness intervened and separated Goldsborough from the employee. Goldsborough then assaulted the witness. Both victims retreated inside the business and locked the door while Goldsborough continued yelling threats at them.
The employee was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The witness declined medical treatment at the scene.
Goldsborough was taken to Troop 6 where she was charged with the below listed offenses, arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court, and committed to the Department of Correction on a $74,001 cash bond.

- Assault Second Degree (Felony)
- Aggravated Menacing (Felony)
- Strangulation (Felony)
- Resisting Arrest with Force or Violence (Felony)
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
- Terroristic Threatening
- Criminal Trespass Third Degree
