State Police Announces Dates for Citizens Police Academy in Sussex County

The Delaware State Police is accepting applications for the 2026 DSP Citizens Police Academy to be held this fall in Sussex County.
The 2026 Citizens Police Academy begins on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, and continues until November 11, 2026. It features nine two-hour sessions held on Wednesday evenings, mostly at Delaware State Police Troop 7, located at 19444 Mulberry Knoll Road in Lewes.
Participants will explore a variety of engaging police activities aligned with current Delaware State Police operations. The Academy covers classroom lessons on evidence processing, criminal and traffic investigations, tours of DSP facilities, familiarization with special units, and more. Participants will also get the chance to ride along with patrol troopers.
This session is limited to 20 participants, and background checks will be conducted on all applicants.
Applications are available on the Citizens Police Academy section of our website and will be accepted until August 28, 2026.
