State Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash on River Road in Seaford

The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Saturday night in Seaford.

On May 9, 2026, at approximately 9:20 p.m., a Yamaha XVS motorcycle was traveling westbound on River Road east of Woodland Ferry Road at an apparent high rate of speed. The preliminary investigation revealed that the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve, fell on its side, and skidded off the roadway.

The rider, a 56-year-old man from Seaford, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. On May 10, 2026, he died because of his injuries. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The investigation is still ongoing by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit. Troopers ask anyone who witnessed or has information about the crash to contact Master Corporal J. Smith by calling (302) 703-3267. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) 847-3333.
