State Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Christiana Road in Newark

The Delaware State Police is investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle that occurred Tuesday evening in Newark.
On May 5, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., troopers responded to Christiana Road, near Harmony Road, for a report of a crash. The preliminary investigation revealed that a Honda CBR motorcycle was traveling eastbound in the left lane of Christiana Road towards Harmony Road. At the same time, an Audi Q5 was turning left from westbound Christiana Road into McIntosh Plaza. For reasons currently under investigation, the front of the Honda struck the passenger side of the Audi, causing the motorcycle operator to be ejected.
The motorcycle operator, a 34-year-old man from Newark, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.
The Audi’s driver, a 37-year-old man from Bear, did not report any injuries.
The roadway was closed for approximately 2.5 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this crash. Troopers ask anyone who witnessed the crash or has video to contact Corporal K.
