The Delaware State Police is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a gas station Monday evening in New Castle.

On May 4, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., troopers responded to the Shell gas station, located at 3001 New Castle Avenue, for a report of a robbery. The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown male suspect, armed with a knife, approached the clerk and demanded money from the cash register. The clerk complied and the suspect stole an undisclosed amount of money before driving away in a white Ford Taurus. No injuries were reported during the incident.

A short time later, troopers located the Ford in the City of Wilmington and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver failed to stop and fled, leading to a brief vehicle pursuit. Troopers initially lost sight of the vehicle, however, the Ford was later found abandoned near Wilson Street and East 13th Street.

The suspect is described as a man, approximately 6’02” tall, wearing a brown sweatshirt, and dark colored pants.
