The Delaware State Police is investigating a fatal two-vehicle head-on crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Hockessin.
On March 10, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on Lancaster Pike, south of Mc Govern Road. At the same time, a Hyundai Sonata was traveling northbound on Lancaster Pike, south of Mc Govern Road. For reasons currently being investigated, the Hyundai crossed over the double yellow line and crashed head-on into the Chevrolet.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 65-year-old man from Landenberg, Pennsylvania, was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 79-year-old man from Hockessin, Delaware, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this crash. Troopers ask anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information to contact Corporal D.
