The Delaware State Police is investigating a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash that occurred Sunday night in Wilmington.
On December 28, 2025, at approximately 9:15 p.m., troopers responded to East Lea Boulevard, near Colony Boulevard, for reports of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown vehicle was traveling in an unknown direction on East Lea Boulevard, near Colony Boulevard. At the same time, a pedestrian was on East Lea Boulevard, near Colony Boulevard. For reasons currently under investigation, the vehicle struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.
The pedestrian, a 40-year-old woman from Dallas, Texas, was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified.
The roadway was closed for approximately two hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, has surveillance or dash-camera footage, or has relevant information about the vehicle involved, to contact Corporal K.
