State Police Arrest Wilmington Man for DUI Following Crash at St. Georges Technical High School

Date Posted: Wednesday, September 10th, 2025

Delaware State Police have arrested 45-year-old Andrew Naylor of Wilmington, Delaware, following a crash investigation that occurred yesterday afternoon in the parking lot of St. Georges Technical High School.

On September 9, 2025, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a School Resource Officer (SRO) was notified that a Tesla was traveling erratically in the wrong direction through the school parking lot and had struck another vehicle. The SRO responded and found the Tesla disabled after it crashed into multiple parked cars. The driver, later identified as Andrew Naylor, remained in the driver’s seat. While speaking with Naylor, the SRO smelled an odor of alcoholic beverages. A subsequent search of the Tesla revealed multiple bottles of alcoholic beverages.

A preliminary investigation revealed that while school was in session, Naylor drove through the parking lot and struck three vehicles:

  • A Volkswagen Jetta, operated by a 55-year-old Delaware City woman
  • A Chevrolet Trax, operated by a 42-year-old Middletown man
  • A Honda Civic, operated by a 45-year-old Townsend man

No students or staff members were injured, and school operations were not disrupted.

The 55-year-old woman was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 42-year-old man was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The 45-year-old man declined medical treatment at the scene.

Naylor was also transported to the hospital for evaluation. During that time, the SRO continued to notice signs of impairment. A blood search warrant was obtained for DUI. Naylor was released from the hospital and taken to Troop 6, where he was charged with the following offenses:

  • Vehicular Assault First Degree (Felony)
  • Vehicular Assault Second Degree
  • Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $1100 unsecured bond.
