Troopers Arrest Dover Teen for DUI and Other Felony Charges Following Pursuit in Stolen Car

The Delaware State Police have arrested a 17-year-old male from Dover, Delaware for DUI and other felony charges following a pursuit in a stolen car in Dover yesterday.

On May 15, 2025, at approximately 12:42 a.m., a trooper on patrol in Capitol Park saw a Lexus ES350 traveling eastbound on President Drive approaching Bay Road. A computer check of the registration showed the Lexus was stolen from Maryland. The trooper attempted to pull the car over, but it failed to stop. During the pursuit, the Lexus drove at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner on several Dover area streets and roads, ultimately coming to a stop on Roosevelt Avenue near River Chase Drive. The driver, identified as a 17-year-old male, and an unknown passenger fled from the car. After searching the area troopers located the driver, who showed signs of impairment, and took him into custody without incident.

The suspect was taken to Troop 3, where after Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, he was charged with the crimes listed below, arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and release on his own recognizance to a parent or guardian.

  • Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal (Felony)
  • Receiving Stolen Property over $1,500 (Felony)
  • Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Driving Under the Influence of Drugs
  • Driving without a Valid License
  • Reckless Driving
