State Police Arrest Pennsylvania Man for Assault Following Crash in Milford

Delaware State Police arrested 45-year-old Jason Boyd of Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, for felony assault after he pepper-sprayed a man following a motor vehicle crash yesterday afternoon.

On March 4, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., troopers responded to 793 Bay Road in Milford for a reported crash. A preliminary investigation revealed that a 50-year-old man from Milford, Delaware, was driving southbound on Bay Road near Jenkins Pond Road in a Honda Element. Boyd, driving a Chevrolet Silverado, was following behind the Honda when he allegedly began tailgating. In response, the 50-year-old driver abruptly applied his brakes, causing Boyd’s vehicle to crash into the rear of the Honda.

Both drivers then pulled into the parking lot of I.G. Burton to assess the damage. As the 50-year-old man exited his vehicle and approached the Chevrolet, Boyd allegedly pepper-sprayed him before troopers arrived. Emergency Medical Services responded and treated the 50-year-old man for minor injuries.

Troopers contacted Boyd and observed a canister of pepper spray inside his truck. They also discovered that his vehicle registration was expired. Boyd was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 3, where he was charged with:

Assault 2^nd Degree with a Disabling Chemical Spray (Felony)
Expired Registration

Boyd was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $2,525 unsecured bond. Additionally, the 50-year-old driver of the Honda was issued a citation for Reckless Driving.
