The Delaware State Police are investigating a homicide that occurred in Ellendale on Saturday night, leaving one man dead.
On June 1, 2024, at approximately 10:47 p.m., troopers were called to a residence on the 13000 block of South Old State Road in Ellendale for a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, they found a 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the chest in the front yard and began life-saving efforts. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The preliminary investigation revealed that during an altercation between the victim and a female, the female produced a gun and shot him in the chest. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.
The Homicide Unit is actively investigating this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding this case to contact Detective B. McDerby by calling 302-741-2821.
