State Police Investigating Two-Vehicle Fatal Crash near Milton

Delaware State Police are investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred near Milton on Thursday afternoon.

On May 30, 2024, at approximately 2:28 p.m., a Mercedes E-Class was driving southbound on Harbeson Road slowing down to turn left onto Carpenter Road. At the same time, a Toyota RAV-4 was driving northbound on Harbeson Road approaching Carpenter Road. For reasons under investigation, the Mercedes turned directly in front of the RAV-4 and as a result, the front of the Mercedes hit the front of the RAV-4.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 62-year-old woman from Camden, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. A passenger, a 12-year-old child, was also taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, a 65-year-old woman from Harbeson, Delaware, was taken to an area hospital where she died. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified. Two passengers, a 44-year-old woman and a 4-year-old child, were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The roadway was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this crash or might have more information to contact Senior Corporal J. Smith by calling (302) 703-3267. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
