The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred yesterday in Harrington that left one man dead.
On May 21, 2024, at approximately 4:01 p.m., a Freightliner tractor and trailer was driving eastbound on Vernon Road approaching Fox Hunters Road. At the same time, a Honda CB1 motorcycle was driving westbound on Vernon Road approaching Fox Hunters Road. The preliminary investigation revealed that the Freightliner had almost completed a left turn onto Fox Hunters Road when the front of the Honda hit the back part of the trailer. As a result, the driver was ejected, and the motorcycle came to rest on the south side of the road.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 31-year-old man from Denton, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified. The driver of the Freightliner, a 58-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware, was not injured.
The roadway was closed for approximately 3 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
The Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to contact Master Corporal W.
