Superintendent Colonel William Crotty
Newark, DE- Troopers arrested Pernell Louissol, 31, of Brooklyn, NY, for felony assault after stabbing a coworker during a physical altercation.
On February 26, 2022, at approximately 10:27 p.m., troopers responded to a stabbing that reportedly occurred in the area of northbound I-95 and exit ramp for DE 7. Upon arrival, troopers located a Ford passenger van with several people standing outside on the shoulder of the roadway. Troopers located an 18-year-old male with a laceration to his left arm, causing severe bleeding. Troopers provided care to stop the bleeding, and EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
The investigation determined the victim and Pernell Louissol were traveling with coworkers in the van when an argument ensued between the two men. The victim, who was driving, pulled over, and the two exited the van and began fighting on the shoulder of I-95. Coworkers broke up the altercation, and they all got back into the van. Prior to the victim driving off, the two men began arguing, which again turned into a physical altercation. During the fight, the victim discovered he was bleeding from his arm and passed out.
Pernell was taken into custody without incident and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 2, where he was charged with Assault Second Degree (Felony). He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $5,000.00 cash bond.
