*UPDATE* Delaware State Police Investigating Fatal Crash- Harrington

Harrington, DE- Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred Monday afternoon north of Harrington.

On October 11, 2021, at approximately 1:28p.m., a 47-year-old Harrington woman was operating a 2009 Dodge Charger southbound on South DuPont Highway (US 13) south of Paradise Alley Road. The operator veered off the west edge of the roadway, attempted to regain control, and turned back into the right lane. As a result, the vehicle started to travel in a clockwise direction and travelled off the west edge of the roadway for a short distance before striking a Verizon utility pole with the left front fender. After striking the pole, the Charger rotates counterclockwise and overturns onto its roof before coming to rest in a private driveway.

The operator was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Identification is pending notification to next of kin.

The roadway was closed for approximately 2.5 hours as the accident was investigated and roadway cleared.

This collision remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Troop 3 Collision Reconstruction Unit.
