Dover, DE- Delaware State Police conducted a traffic stop Thursday afternoon that lead to the arrest of three men on criminal charges.
On August 26, 2021, at approximately 2:12 p.m., troopers conducted a traffic stop on a gold Mercedes Benz on South DuPont Highway in the area of Walnut Shade Road. A computer inquiry revealed the owner and operator of the vehicle, Christopher R. Jones, 32, of Dover, was driving with a suspended license and had a capias for Failing to Appear in the Justice of the Peace Court. Contact was made with Jones, and frontseat passenger, Jared A. Hopkins, 24, of Seaford, and backseat passenger, Monte D. Murray, 32, of Seaford. A strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle and a criminal investigation ensued. All men were removed from the vehicle and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted. Located in the vehicle were the following items:
The men were taken into custody without incident and transported to Delaware State Police Troop 3. They were charged with the following crimes:
Christopher R. Jones
Jones was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released on a $6,400.00 unsecured bond.
Jared A. Hopkins
Hopkins was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released after posting a $25,200.00 secured bond.
Monte D. Murray
Murray was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released on his own recognizance.
