Troopers Seek Public’s Assistance With Information on Home Invasion- Smyrna

SmyrnaThe Delaware State Police are investigating a home invasion that took place at a Smyrna area residence Friday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:52 p.m., Friday, October 9, 2020, at a residence located on Wheatleys Pond Rd., Smyrna. Upon arrival, it was reported that a suspect made forced entry into the home and was confronted by the 87 year-old homeowner/victim. The victim had a handgun and extended towards the suspect. However, the suspect was able to take the gun away from the victim, and fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim was not injured from the incident.

The suspect is described as an unknown male dressed in all dark clothing.

This investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Detective Weinstein of the Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Unit by calling 302-698-8443.
