Townsend- The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred in a the parking lot of Townsend Park last evening.

The incident occurred on May 16, 2020 at approximately 10:20 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to Edgar Road at the entrance to Townsend Village I for a report of a robbery.  Upon arrival, it was learned that a 24-year-old male from New Castle and his 21-year-old girlfriend from Townsend were sitting in his Honda Accord, when they were approached by an unknown suspect.  The suspect displayed what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money.  The male turned over his wallet and the suspect took off on foot towards the wood line on the south side of the park.  The victims did not sustain injury as a result of this incident.

The suspect was described as a male who was wearing all dark clothing to include a face mask and a hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head.  The suspect was approximately 5’09” tall, thin build, and 18-30 years old.
