Delmar- The Delaware State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in attempting to locate 30-year-old Michael W. Lewis of Seaford, DE who is wanted in connection with a burglary and a theft of a motor vehicle.

On May 6, 2020 at approximately 12:16 p.m., Troopers responded to a residence in the 12000 block of Whitesville Road, Delmar, DE, in reference to a burglary complaint.  Upon arrival, Troopers met with a 30-year-old male resident who advised that he was made aware from his bank that someone was attempting to cash one of his checks.  The victim further realized that an undisclosed amount of cash and a single check had been missing from his lock box that was located inside his residence.  Through further investigation, Michael Lewis, who is an acquaintance of the victim, was developed as a suspect.

Lewis is also wanted for the theft of a motor vehicle that occurred sometime between April 27 and 28 at the Service Tire Truck Station located at 24873 Sussex Highway, Seaford. In this incident, Lewis stole an employee’s personal vehicle, a 2004 Chevy Silverado.   The vehicle was recovered in the parking lot of Motel 6, located at 24057 Sussex Highway,
Seaford.

Troopers have been unable to locate Lewis who currently has active warrants for the following:

•  Identity Theft (Felony)
•  Burglary Third Degree
• Theft (Felony)
•  Forgery Second Degree (Felony)
• Theft By False Pretense
• Theft of a Motor Vehicle (Felony)
• Fail to Obey an Emergency Order
