Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are investigating a shoplifting turned robbery that occurred at a Wilmington area grocery store on Saturday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:19 a.m., Saturday, April 25, 2020 at the ACME grocery store, located at 1308 Centerville Rd., Wilmington. A male suspect filled a shopping cart with merchandise and then exited the store without paying. When confronted in the parking lot by store employees, who asked the suspect for payment or a return of the merchandise, he displayed a knife and refused to comply. The suspect then fled the parking lot in a black, KIA Soul. The employees were not injured as a result of the incident.
The suspect was described as a black male, 20-25 years of age, 5’8”-5”10” tall, 140-150 lbs., wearing a dark colored shirt and jeans.
