Magnolia– The Delaware State Police have arrested Chad Chapek, 30, and his girlfriend, Rebecca Lonski, 29, both of Magnolia in connection with recent residential construction burglaries.

Beginning in the first week of March 2020, the Delaware State Police Troop 3 began to experience a rash in thefts and burglaries from homes under construction in the neighborhood of Chestnut Ridge, Magnolia. The investigation revealed during the overnight hours, typically on the weekend, a dark colored truck with loud exhausts would enter the area of the homes under construction and remove building materials.

On April 11, 2020 Troopers located a vehicle in the area matching the description of the suspect vehicle at a residence under construction. The male subject, later identified as Chapek, exited the vehicle wearing a head lamp light and was observed searching the property. Upon returning to the vehicle, he was taken into custody without incident. Also in the vehicle during the incident was Lonski.

Through further investigation, evidence was produced linking Chapek and Lonski to the incidents. Both subjects were transported to Troop 3 where they were charged and arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court.

Chapek and Lonski were charged with the following crimes:

• Burlgary 3^rd Degree (3 counts)
• Theft Less than $1500.00 (5 counts)
• Criminal Mischief (2 counts)
• Criminal Trespass 3^rd Degree (4 counts)
• Attempt to Theft Greater than $1500.00
• Criminal Mischief Less than $5000.00

They were each arraigned and Released on their own Recognizance.
