Troopers Investigating Shooting- Newark

Newark– The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that took place at a Newark area residence late Monday night.

At approximately 11:00 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2020, Troopers responded to the 2000 block of Sunset Lake Rd. in Newark in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival they located a 33 year old male inside the residence who had sustained a single gunshot wound to his torso. He was subsequently transported to an area hospital where he is being treated for the gunshot wound.

The initial investigation has determined the male victim was home alone when he heard a knock at the door. When he opened the door he observed two male subjects standing outside the residence and one shot him.

The only suspect information known at this time is the one suspect is believed to be white male and the other is believed to be a black male. No clothing or vehicle description is known at this time.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Detective H. Carroll of the Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit by calling 302-365-8467.
