Dover, Delaware – The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a crash that occurred at approximately 11:50 a.m. on March 5, 2020, involving an overturned 2017 tractor-trailer and a 2009 Nissan Frontier pick-up truck. As of 2:15 a.m. this morning, SR-1 southbound south of Exit 104 is still closed due to the overturned tractor-trailer. DelDOT will remain on the scene until it is uprighted and the southbound lanes are open.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated, but preliminary investigation suggests a pick-up truck was stopped in the right travel lane of SR-1 southbound when the tractor-trailer struck it from behind. The tractor-trailer driver refused treatment. The pick-up truck driver was transported to Bayhealth Kent General with non-life-threatening injuries.
Motorists will experience delays in the area and are advised to seek alternate routes of travel.
