Applications Being Accepted for the 49th Annual Trooper Youth Week

Dover – Applications are currently being accepted for the 49th Trooper Youth Week Academy Class which is scheduled to run from June 22-26, 2020.

The Delaware State Police & American Legion annually host Trooper Youth Week (TYW) at the Delaware State Police Training Academy in Dover, Delaware. This is a week-long live-in academy designed to give high school students who are sincerely interested in law enforcement an opportunity to experience the rigors of training that police officers receive at the Delaware State Police Academy. This is a physically and mentally challenging week for applicants.

The students are selected from a competitive pool, are required to participate in daily physical training as well as a variety of classroom instruction ranging from crime scene and accident investigation. Daily physical training will include outdoor running, approximately 1.5 miles a day, pushups and sit-ups. The program is facilitated by Uniform Troopers assigned to the Delaware State Police Training Academy. There is no cost to the student to attend this training.

High School seniors, juniors, and sophomores are encouraged to complete an application. This can be done by downloading the application directly from our website or by contacting the School Resource Officer at their respective school. Students are not permitted to bring jewelry, candy, gum, any electronic devices, iPod’s, radios, cellular phones, etc. Male Applicants will be required to be clean shaven every day with a military haircut. Females will be required to wear their hair in a bun; if appropriate. No earrings, nose rings or belly rings will be permitted.
