Detectives Conducting a Homicide Investigation – Newport

Newport, Delaware – The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is currently conducting an investigation with the Newport Police Department into a shooting death that occurred last night.

The preliminary investigation has determined on February 15, 2020, at approximately 9:56 p.m. the Newport Police Department and the Delaware State Police responded to a shooting at an apartment in the unit block of Bennett Court in the town limits of Newport. Police located a 15-year-old female gunshot victim at this residence where she was pronounced deceased at the scene.

There is no suspect information at this time. This incident continues to remain under investigation by the Homicide Unit and the Newport Police Department and further information will be released as it becomes available.
