Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash-Dover

Dover-The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred earlier today.

The incident occurred on October 23, 2019 at approximately 5:59 a.m., when a 2006 Nissan Sentra was traveling southbound on Brenford Road (RT42) approaching Mt. Friendship Road (RT15). For unknown reasons the operator failed to negotiate a slight curve in the roadway and traveled off the west edge of Brenford Road.  After exiting the roadway the Sentra struck a standing tree.

The operator of the Sentra, a 19-year-old male from Clayton, DE was properly restrained and pronounced deceased at the scene.  His name is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

The roadway was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
