*UPDATE-Suspects Identified, Still At-Large* Troopers Investigating Liquor Store Assault-One in Custody, Two at Large

New Castle – The Delaware State Police have positively identified 22 year old Shykara Shell and 18 year old, Kahlef Smith, both of New Castle as the previously unidentified suspects who are wanted in connection with an assault that occurred at approximately 9:21 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Collins Park Liquors, located at 226 New Castle Avenue.

Shell and Smith, along with 19 year old Lynshone Glascoe, became engaged in a verbal altercation with two store employees, after Shell attempted to shoplift merchandise. The altercation turned physical when all three suspects began to repeatedly punch the two victims. During the course of the assault Shell used a shard of glass from a liquor bottle that was broken during the altercation to stab one of the victims in the neck and the other in the shoulder, causing serious injuries. Upon fleeing, the suspects also broke a glass window at the business by striking it with an unknown object.

Shell and Smith remain at at-large at this time. Glascoe was apprehended at the time of the original incident by Troopers during a search of the area.

Warrants are currently on file charging Shell and Smith with the following:

  • Assault 2nd Degree (2 counts)
  • Conspiracy 3rd degree
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Criminal Mischief
  • Disorderly Conduct
