*UPDATE #2 – Body of 6 Year Old Victim Recovered* Vehicle Into C and D Canal, Multi-Agency Rescue Operation Underway – Middletown

Middletown – The Delaware State Police and the Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police have confirmed that the body of 6 year old Ethan Lindsey has been recovered.

On Thursday, October 10, 2019 at approximately 8:54 a.m., a 911 call was received advising that a body was seen in the water on the north bank of the C&D canal, approximately .25 miles west of the SR 1 (William V. Roth) Bridge. Officers from the Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police responded and located the body of a child on the waters-edge. The deceased child was removed from the water and positively identified as Ethan Lindsey.

Ethan was one of five occupants in a Chevy HHR that traveled off the roadway on the south side of the C&D canal banks, and crashed into the water, west of the SR 1 Bridge, in an incident that occurred at approximately 9:41 a.m., Sunday October 6, 2019. Three other occupants in the vehicle, the driver, 18 year old Willis Lindsey Jr., 16 year old Kyree Lindsey and 12 year old Eric Lindsey also died as a result of the crash. Their bodies were recovered from the canal waters on the date of the incident. A fifth occupant in the vehicle, a 16 year old female, survived the crash.
