*UPDATE- Troopers Arrest Second Suspect in Beauty Salon Robbery – New Castle

New Castle (19720) – The Delaware State Police have arrested 32 year old Mark D. Riley of Newark, for his role in the armed robbery of a New Castle area beauty salon that occurred in mid-August.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:26 p.m., Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Beauty World, located at 2062 New Castle Avenue (Crossroads Shopping Center). A male suspect with his face concealed and brandishing a knife, approached an employee at the sales counter and demanded money. The victim complied with the demand and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect who exited the business and then entered into the front passenger seat of an awaiting vehicle that was parked in the fire lane, which was being driven by a second suspect. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.

Through various investigative leads and measures Riley was positively identified as the primary suspect, who entered the business and committed the robbery. The driver of the vehicle, 31 year old Theodore Ray Davis 2nd of New Castle, was taken in to custody shortly after the incident occurred and had already been charged for his role in the incident.

On Wednesday, September 4, 2019 Riley was charged with one count each of Robbery 1st Degree, Conspiracy 2nd Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the commission of a Felony and Wearing a Disguise during the Commission of a Felony. He is currently committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $128,000.00 cash bail.
