New Castle (19720) – The Delaware State Police have arrested 31 year old Theodore Ray Davis 2^nd of New Castle, for his role in the armed robbery of a New Castle area beauty salon that occurred in mid-August.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:26 p.m., Saturday, August 17, 2019 at the Beauty World, located at 2062 New Castle Avenue (Crossroads Shopping Center). A male suspect with his face concealed and brandishing a knife, approached an employee at the sales counter and demanded money. The victim complied with the demand and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect who exited the business and then entered into the front passenger seat of an awaiting vehicle that was parked in the fire lane. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.

The vehicle, a red, Jeep Compass that was being driven by Davis, became disabled at the scene due to it running out of fuel. Both Davis and the unknown suspect then fled on foot into Collins Park. Davis returned to the vehicle a short time later with fuel and as he attempted to drive away was stopped by officers from the Delaware River and Bay Authority who took him in to custody without incident.

Davis was turned over to the custody of Troopers with the subsequent investigation confirming that Davis was the driver of the vehicle, and that he was a willing participant in the robbery.

Davis was charged with one count each of Robbery 1^st Degree and Conspiracy 2^nd Degree. He was then arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #2 and released on $21,500.00 unsecured bail.

The identity of the second suspect is still unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
